Ask for a lot of help, make sure you are mentally and emotionally prepared for a job that works with kids with autism

What I liked

The faculty members were inviting. Training to become licensed for the position was easy to follow, informative, and manageable as it is combined with in-person work experience. So I was learning on the spot.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more frequent or consistent work hours. Also, wish there was more interactions with coworkers or other therapists in the company.

Advice

It's okay to not know what to do. You do most of the book work/studying during the training, before meeting the patients, which is great because you enter with some sort of idea of what to do. However, a lot of it is learning who your patient is and their behaviors in order to correctly apply those strategies you've learned about.

What I liked

I currently really like the process, they are super open with what is going on. I start orientation today, everyone on the staff seems super helpful and eager to help their employees learn.

What I wish was different

I personally do not wish anything had been different because they are so open with their employees. Any questions you might have they email back the same day. Most of the learning is online and easily accessible.

Advice

Apply for the job even if you aren't sure you'll get in. Always take a chance on something that you are passionate about and it just might work out in your favor. Have all of your information ready on hand to make the paperwork easier!
