Process Engineer Intern

June - August 2022 • Richland, WA

What I liked

Lamb Weston was a great place for an internship where they provided the resources to succeed. I was able to lead and manage my own project for twelve weeks. I was able to get a lot of hands-on experience choosing motors, and pumps and welding a cart to hold it for testing. I was able to use SolidWorks and design and produce different projects. Everyone is willing to help and answer any questions you have.

What I wish was different

All I wish was different was more time to finish the project I was leading, I only had twelve weeks for the internship.

Advice

Don't expect to sit behind a desk and work on an excel sheet all day but go out and work with different departments and work with your hands.

Consumer Affairs Intern

What I liked

My mentor was great, good work life balance, and everyone was extremely helpful.

What I wish was different

I personally wish I had more networking opportunities at the HQ. But, that is just due to where I was based. My experience was still amazing.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to network.

Environmental Intern

June - August 2022 • American Falls, ID

What I liked

At Lamb Weston I had a main capstone project to focus on throughout the summer A project that would prove to be challenging, rewarding, and in the end impactful. I was assigned mentors who had a genuine interest in me and gave me real opportunities to grow in my field. I left my internship not only knowing more about my department's role in food production, but with a greater understanding of the whole picture.

What I wish was different

Advice

They don't expect you to know everything. Show up ready to work and you'll do great.

Digital Marketing Intern

June - August 2021 • Eagle, ID

What I liked

I had an amazing summer with Lamb Weston. Everyone is so open and willing to help the interns which is not what I expected going into it. It was great experience being able to work full-time for a public, global company and getting a feel into what true office life is like. Every intern was assigned their "intern projects" for the summer that we worked on. My mentors were amazing support systems and could not have provided me with anything better. They placed the trust in me to do my work independently but were always there to help out if needed. I got some great marketing experience from this summer that I don't think I could've received elsewhere.

What I wish was different

Advice

Go in with an open mind. The days and weeks are long with working full-time, but everyone is there to support and assist you in anyway they can. Everyone is willing to speak with the interns, so I reached out to as many people as I could to hear about what they each do in their day-to-day life to learn about the different aspects of Marketing, and I would definitely advise future interns to do the same.

Ag Operations Intern

May - September 2021 • Twin Falls, ID

What I liked

Great work-life balance, excellent mentorship, great atmosphere. Lots of happy employees. Great opportunities for learning and growth, with feedback all along the way. Not a typical internship, as the intern will be expected to contribute the success of the assigned team and company.

What I wish was different

Advice

Come with an open mind and ready to ask questions. The internship will largely be what you make of it. The company will give you freedom to learn as much as you want if you show interest.

Intern

June - August 2021 • Eagle, ID

What I liked

I enjoyed the people I worked with and the projects I got to work on. All the people were super kind and understanding. They were always willing to answer any questions and help me learn. The projects I got to work on had a real value that I was able to see and I was able to see and understand their impact.

What I wish was different

If I could go back and do it all again. I would have reached out to learn from more people. I also would have tried to get involved with more projects, so I could learn from them.

Advice

Try to meet with as many people as you can, and learn from all the leaders around you.

ERP intern

May 2019 • Eagle, ID

What I liked

Since day one, I felt like I was part of the company, treated as a regular employee. I traveled with the team and participated in meetings, workshops, and training. The internship program is structured to promote integration between the interns and provides the opportunity to connect with multiple areas throughout the company.

What I wish was different

A formal feedback session during the program would be helpful.

Advice

Be curious, reach out to people with questions. Talk to your team and explore ways you can help them, don't just wait for activities.

Marketing Intern

October 2018 • Eagle, ID

What I liked

I have a current intern position at Lamb Weston, and I am loving it. I found the job on Handshake and the platform made it so easy to share my background with the company.

What I wish was different

So far - nothing!

Advice

Do NOT be afraid to put yourself out there and take chances - whether that is applying for a position that you think might be out of your reach, looking in different types of fields, etc. I am so glad I was able to apply for this position through Handshake, and I hope that other students jump at these kinds of opportunities.
