What I liked

I enjoyed the free time in between tutoring sessions during which I was able to do my own work or socialize with other tutors who weren't busy. I also liked hearing from students I tutored whose performances were increased because of it.

What I wish was different

Nothing I can think of.

Advice

I would recommend tutoring to anybody who is good in their subject but is afraid that they won't have ALL the answers. You won't. But your students know that, and they don't mind. Their professors are the ones with all the answers, and you can refer students to them if you're stuck. They'll just be grateful for whatever help you are able to offer.

Focus on networking wherever you are whether in a paid job or an internship. Finding connections in the work force is key!

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to help other students with subjects I'd previously taken, and revisiting those subjects myself. The atmosphere was also very relaxed, and I very much liked my supervisor and co-workers.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been paid just a bit more than $0.25 above minimum wage.

Advice

I would say that anybody who is considering tutoring should go for it! Tutors aren't expected to know information as well as their professors do; just be there for students and help them when you can.
