What I liked

I enjoyed working outside in the creek and surveying the creek. I felt like I learned a lot of technical experience in using those surveying machines. I also was able to see changes in the environment right in front of me and better understand what caused them.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been told which part of the research was for engineering and which part was for geology.

Advice

If you're working outside for a long period of time, bring sunscreen and bug spray.

What I liked

I got the chance to learn a lot of new techniques and theoretical background. I gained so many technical skills. I got to work with a professor one-on-one and learn so much from them.

What I wish was different

I wish it could have been a bit more independent, but it makes sense that it wasn't as it was very high-level science.

Advice

Do it! It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

What I liked

I loved the flexibility of the experience. My project focused on the metropolitan city of Istanbul as its entity formed by tensions and coexistence. This transnational space harbored and still harbors various ethnicities, countries, religions, and cultures.
