What I liked

I thought that Elaine was a wonderful boss. She is very understanding in case you need to take a break and are getting overwhelmed from schoolwork. It was fun getting to make different things from YouTube, IG Posts, and TIktoks. The other interns were wonderful as well! I appreciated working with a team and meeting other interns through the game nights.

What I wish was different

I can't think of anything, I thought it was good the way it was.

Advice

Have fun editing! Work at your own pace and have a schedule so you know when you need to get things done and uploaded. Be vocal with your co-interns and Elaine in case you need help on anything or have any questions.

PR Intern

April 2020 • St. Charles, IL

What I liked

I really enjoy the flexibility that this internship offers, because at this time we need an opportunity that we can do from our homes. Even though it is a virtual internship, we have weekly calls to make sure we are keeping up with expectations. We also get the opportunity to communicate with our fellow interns via email, text, or facetime if we need any questions.

What I wish was different

I have only been at the internship for a couple of weeks, but I am really happy with how it is going so far so there is nothing I would change. Everyone in the Lady Boss Blogger is very respectful and encouraging of each other. Everyone motivates each other and keeps each other on track for success.

Advice

Ask questions whenever you have them. Remember that there are no stupid questions, you are better off asking the question rather than not and doing something incorrectly. Don't be so hard on yourself, especially if you are a student balancing classes at the same time. People will be understanding and communication is key. People will give you respect if you are honest with them.

What I liked

I really enjoy how hands on this internship is. You are given many responsibilities that you truly learn a lot from. I believe that i have improved my skills and learned new skills from this internship so far.

What I wish was different

Advice

It is a remote position, so it does require some adjusting. I ended up loving that it is remote because you are given a deadline for tasks, but as long as they are done by then you can make your own schedule on how to get everything done on time.

Blogging Intern

June - November 2020 • Easton, PA

What I liked

I learned so much beyond just how to write blog posts. For instance, I discovered what situations I work best in, what I enjoyed learning/writing about, and how to set limits for myself. These are lessons and skills that I know I will be able to apply in future positions. Besides that, I enjoyed working with Elaine and my fellow interns because everyone was so kind and helpful. They encouraged me to do my best, and I was never afraid to ask any questions I had. It was a lot at times, but I enjoyed the challenge. Lastly, I liked the confidence I gained from having autonomy in most of my decisions.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have found a more structured/balanced schedule that I could have stuck to every week.

Advice

You are more capable than you believe. Lean into what you enjoy and make the best out of what you don’t. Don’t let mistakes or problems discourage you. But most importantly, reflect back on what you accomplish sporadically and be proud of all that you have done. It will feel amazing.

Public Relations Intern

May - December 2020 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I loved learning more about working with influencers and how to run an influencer campaign from start to finish. It was also very flexible and you could work on your tasks for the week whenever you had time throughout the week.

What I wish was different

We started out doing individual phone calls, but recently started doing team calls on Google Meet. I wish that had been done sooner, I loved getting to know everyone on the calls.

Advice

Don't wait until the last minute to do your work. Something that helped me a lot throughout the semester was setting goals of either finding 50 influencers a day or working for an hour every day, depending on my school work for the week.
