I liked working with the kids and getting to know and help them. I also liked working with my team and planning the direction we should take to best serve the kids in our charge.
What I wish was different
I wish management was more invested in their employees. I felt like we weren’t listened to very well and it put the kids in jeopardy at times. It also led to frequent staff burnout.

What I liked
I liked being able to see a change and progression in the girls that went there. To be able to help them and mentor them, even in a small way, was pretty fulfilling.

I wish I had more experience with processing and de-escalation prior to working there

Be prepared to have your eyes opened and be exposed to very real and very challenging things that these populations struggle with
