The community aspect where employees and patients got to share many parts of life like meals and times or prayer and worship.
What I wish was different
L'Arche Syracuse was short staffed at the time so we were unable to do many of the activities as a community that usually take place.
Advice
L'Arche Syracuse has an option to "live-in." That is to live in the house where you work. Although sometimes it felt like I was at work 24/7, it really saved on things like commute and grocery shopping money.
