Sport is more than a game to L.A.C.E.S. We work to create a sustainable, replicable model of community development using sports as a tool to reach at-risk youth and empower their local communities.
L.A.C.E.S. began its operation in 2007 in Liberia. We started our work in Liberia because of the undeniable void that remained in the wake of their 14 year civil war. During the 14-year conflict an estimated 15,000 children fought in this war and it deprived young people of the positive influence of role models such as parents and community leaders.
Today we serve 300 street children in our Liberian soccer league, as well as provide sports camps in the U.S. for 150 refugee youth.
