Electrical Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Rochester, NY

What I liked

I had a variety of engineering tasks from software, hardware, optics, to even some mechanical. I never felt like I didn't have work and the tasks that were given to me made me feel like I was valued as an actual engineer rather than an intern. The engineers there were always willing to help me whenever I had issues as well.

What I wish was different

I do wish for the projects I had worked on had a documented process. It felt a little too loose and free when I completed tasks/projects with little to no documentation or picking up a project with no previous documentation.

Advice

This type of job where there's a lot of moving parts is very helpful to determine what type of engineering path you want to follow. It certainly helped me narrow down what I wanted to do and where I ended up now! So don't shy away from experiences like this, it will certainly help you.
