What I liked
I liked being able to teach and help kids in whatever way I could. Watching kids start to love learning was so encouraging. I got to use my major in art to help them with crafts in wood burning, pottery, and painting. Making learning fun and inspiring kids was the most rewarding part of the volunteer work.
What I wish was different
I wish our personal leaders for our camp were a bit more organized, some things were haphazard or messy. I suppose that's to be expected at a weeklong crafting camp for kids though.
Advice
Definitely get involved in whatever way you can. Networking at an art summer camp is perfect for art majors, I was able to get a lot of freelancing work due to the networking I did while I was volunteering.
