I really enjoyed researching topics that I wasn't familiar with and interviewing professionals in the area to get a better understanding. Plus, the writing aspect was enjoyable.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more communication with the other intern during the summer. We had different schedules and rarely got to discuss what was going on with each other. It would've been nice to have more time to review each other's work and make suggestions.
Advice
Even if you're slightly unfamiliar with the work you're going to be doing, trust your supervisors in helping you make the right decisions. I felt comfortable asking many questions whenever I felt confused, which was a huge benefit while working.
