Excellent office environment. Everyone was fair and explained everything I had to do. I learned a lot from them regarding AutoCAD, structural design, and construction management.

Advice
Experience is the best teacher. Even though we learn the theory and a lot of good concepts at Rutgers, it’s better to go out and see how the industry really works and how the things are done.

Civil Engineering Intern
May - August 2022 • Shiner, TX
What I liked
Getting an opportunity to work with real engineers in the field and learning what the steps are in the design process for a project.
What I wish was different
I wish I worked with other civil engineering interns more. In my office there was just me and one other who wasn’t a civil engineering major.
Advice
Soak up as much knowledge as you can. If the opportunity to learn is provided do everything you can to utilize the resources provided during the internship.

HR Administrative Support Technician (Recruiting and L&D)
June 2019 • Hunt Valley, MD
What I liked
Everyone here was accommodating and willing to help me. They were very welcoming from the very first day. I was given real work to do as an intern (not just busywork) and felt that I was valued as an employee within the company.
What I wish was different
I would have liked if there were days where the interns could eat lunch together and get to know one another, instead of always having a Lunch n' Learn. The interns seemed to talk to each other during field trips, but not so much in the office.
Advice
Always ask questions! They want you to get as much as you can out of your internship experience. And if you have multiple interests, take advantage of the job shadowing program.
