Osco and Liquor floor associate

What I liked

I have worked at Jewel for two years now and I originally started in the Floral section but went through 3 managers in a span of 7 months so I transferred to Osco and at that time I had just turned 18 so I was allowed to work help out in the liquor department with stocking and facing. Once I transferred I enjoyed my job a lot more because I got to work with over-the-counter drugs and learned a lot more about them in the Osco section.

What I wish was different

I wish when I transferred to Osco that I didn't help out in liquor and spent more time in Osco because the liquor department requires a lot of lifting and it was hard on my back but it was still an interesting job,

Advice

I would share that if you start at a job that has many departments and you don't enjoy the department you're in overtime it doesn't hurt to request a transfer because from my experience, once I transferred I enjoyed my job a lot more.

Don't work part time at a union job, you won't reap the benifits and you don't have a choice to pay.

What I liked

I liked being able to hone my communication skills and to talk with new people, as well as getting some experience with high-pressure situations where I must act quickly.

What I wish was different

I wish more of the sale prices had been properly programmed into the register system.

Advice

I think everyone should work in retail or some other form of customer service at some point because it will give them a greater appreciation for what others with those types of jobs do.

What I liked

The coworkers were nice people and it felt a lot like a family. Working with customers was also fun.

What I wish was different

I wish the job hadn't been so stressful; we were constantly running low on people. Upper management always wanted more, but wasn't willing to help the struggling department. Overall, I just wish the management was more understanding and helpful.
