What I liked

I think it was a very good environment that taught me how to communicate well with others. I was able to grow in my sales and customer relations skills while also working on organization and productivity.

What I wish was different

The location I worked at was under construction so that caused a lot of issues. Many customers were upset about the noise and that we had to relocate a lot of our brands but there wasn't anything the staff could do about it.

Advice

It is not easy to deal with customers but it teaches you how to be friendly and helpful even in difficult situations.

What I liked

I really enjoyed being able to learn about custom blinds and shades, and learning about the ordering process. I also enjoyed being able to work one on one with customers.

I would not want to change anything about this experience

Advice

Definitely do research when you're working with a specialized product. You have to be able to know as much information as possible when it comes to the products

What I liked

I enjoyed the fast pace of everything. There was never a second I was bored and the customers made my time there extremely rewarding. It was always very simple to make their day better and I enjoyed being able to help people have the best experience possible.

What I wish was different

I wish there could have been time for more training. I was working an entire shift alone at a register on the third day there. While I was able to manage there were still many things I had yet to learn about the store before I felt more comfortable alone. It would help having more coworkers who knew their position as well.

Advice

Just keep a smile on your face and remember not to take things personally. Being polite and personable goes a long way!

What I liked

JCPenney provides the incredible opportunity to learn the roles of both an Assistant Buyer and a Business Analyst (inventory allocator). The program is well organized and structured with informative classes, and hands-on learning from an experienced buying team. They encourage their interns to explore all the career possibilities JCPenney has to offer.
