JACOBS

Power & Controls Intern

June - August 2019 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

I loved the opportunity to get experience in the industry of electrical engineering. It is very different from anything we are exposed to in our education. I also learned what I want and don't want in a job.

What I wish was different

I wish I could see a window from my desk. I worked on a confidential task force that was housed in the basement of the building and it was difficult to be productive at times and the sun would've helped a lot.

Advice

Even if you aren't sure that you want to go into that field, take any chance you have to gain experience. Even if you find you don't want to make a career out of it, that's still valuable knowledge.

Mechanical design engineer intern

May - August 2019 • Cape Canaveral, FL

What I liked

Incredible place to work. It was inspiring to see rocket launches and history being made. The work was a real application of things I’d learned in computer aided engineering.

What I wish was different

The variety of work was slim. Most of what I did was drafting drawings of parts.

Advice

Soak up every bit of the experience. You’ll miss being able to work on Kennedy Space Center.

What I liked

I was able to develop both field skills and technical skills. This position gave me the opportunity to work as a part of a team and take my own role in assessment projects. I also enjoyed the internship program, which included lunch & learn events for professional development.
