International Institute of Buffalo

About International Institute of Buffalo

Founded in 1918 to serve the needs of foreign-born War Brides as they made Buffalo home following World War 1, the International Institute of Buffalo has its roots in empowering immigrants in Buffalo.

One hundred years later, the Institute remains a fixture in the community; building bridges between Buffalo and the world. From assisting refugees and immigrants to build productive lives, to empowering survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking; from professional interpreting and translation services, to education and international visitors programs that shape the next generation of global leaders, the Institute advances human rights and celebrates the diversity that strengthens and enriches our community.

“The people who work at IIB and especially in Language Services are wonderful. There are opportunities to work on a wide array of projects, and I always felt like my ideas were welcome and encouraged.”
