What I liked

This company throughs its interns straight into a hands-on project. Once the safety training was completed, there was no idle moment. I was either helping millwrights or designing and building my project, and I had free rain to design and build the solution. I learned a lot from the team. The company treats its interns extremely well, and if offered a full-time position opportunity to grow in the company.

What I wish was different

Nothing, Interfor was a great company to work for.

Advice

I recommend bringing your welding helmet and a few basic tools, including a hammer and a big prybar. Bringing your own tools is not required, but it is nice not having to borrow someone else's tools all the time.

Safety, Quality Control, and Production Intern

What I liked

The people who work at Interfor, from the recruiters to the production floor workers to the management staff, are all extremely friendly individuals who put pride in their work. I loved working alongside these men and women because I felt like I was part of a family, not just working at a job. I also had a lot of independence in my term project, so I felt like my work had meaning and that Interfor trusted me to get the job done.

What I wish was different

Advice

The work environment requires steel-toe boots, hard hat, ear plugs, and other essential PPE. Expect to get some saw dust on you while working out in the mills, as this is where you will spend the majority of your time. This is not the place to work if you just want to work in an office.
