My coworkers were very kind and helpful. They made all information available to me and answered all of my questions to help me learn and do my job well. I was given a variety of projects designing equipment systems, and I feel that all that real-world experience helped to prepare me for my design classes senior year.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could see more projects through to completion. Since I was only there for 3 months, I feel like I was able to start a lot of projects, but then I had to dump them all on the full-time engineer at the end of the summer.
Advice
Be kind to everyone. While I learned a lot from the other engineers, some of my greatest sources of help and companionship were the people without college degrees: the operators, the maintenance staff, and the janitor. I felt like I was able to learn so much because I was willing to listen to what everyone could teach me.
