Better pay, because inflation has caused many things to cost triple since 2010. I would have preferred a full-time job, but my abusive then-husband wouldn't allow that to happen regardless.

The hours were very good and the overall communication and tasks flowed smoothly.

The amount of product to produce was a lot for one person especially when there is a special order.

Advice

Getting to work early is helpful, and getting stuff ready for the next day or next shift helps a lot.

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to build relationships with my customers, co-workers, and managers. Seeing repeat customers know my name and telling me about their lives is a treat and makes working sustainable. Having hard working and authentic co-workers and managers allowed me to grow and gain experience in the work place. It was so very encouraging.

What I wish was different

I do wish that some workers had been disciplined more for improper behavior and lacking effort, but, thankfully, management did act according later on. It was very wonderful to see them do what was right for the whole's sake.

Advice

It is a great way to earn money for high school and college students that gives them communication skills, professional social interaction, and endurance training.

I liked interacting with the customers and all sorts of different people.

What I wish was different

I wish the management was more organized and the training period was longer. The store operator was super friendly, but the intermediary managers were not always the most dependable. I was expected to do everything, but was never trained fully on everything.

It's good to do things that you might not enjoy, because you can learn a lot from the experience.

The work was easy to do and close to home.

What I wish was different

The supervisors were not hiring people who wanted to work, only those who wanted to stand around doing nothing or constantly called off. That caused us to be understaffed frequently. We also were not given complete on the job training.

Advice

Make sure you really like working with the public before applying to work in that industry. Customer service is not for everyone.
