Indium Corporation

Business Analyst Intern

May - August 2019 • Clinton, NY

What I liked

Amazing career development workshops called “Lunch and Learns” on Wednesdays that included Dale Carnegie training, resume and interview reviews, leadership and presentation skills, and more! Everyone at the company was extremely welcoming. The work that was scheduled for me to do was real work that contributed to the company and not just “busy work” or “intern chores.”

What I wish was different

Nothing, I have accepted a full time position with Indium Corporation because of this internship!

Advice

Definitely find an internship. Even if it is something you are only mildly interested in, it will only benefit you to work in a professional field and build your resume. Worst case scenario it helps you rule out what you DON’T like and best case scenario you know what direction your job applications and career development should be moving toward.

What I liked

The company culture is incredible. Also each Wednesday we spent 2 hours completing a professional development series.

What I wish was different

At times my work became dull and repetitive.

Marketing Communications Intern

What I liked

This internship gave me an immense amount of experiences and network connections that I never would have had else-wise. I got the opportunity to work on my own projects, balance numerous tasks, attend meetings, provide insight as well as countless other things. An additional unique attribute of this internship is that every Wednesday, the company would bring an outside speaker to talk to the ten interns (speakers ranged from Dale Carnegie representatives to financial managers).

What I wish was different

I truthfully don't have much that I wish had been different. Throughout the ten weeks, I was given amazing opportunities, networking experiences and exposure to so many new chances. The only thing I would request to change for future interns at this corporation, is the seating arrangements for the interns. Four of the ten interns were seated in a direct walkway through a highly foot trafficked area within the facility.

Advice

Go above and beyond on your assigned tasks and don't be afraid to speak up. By generating a good connection with my supervisors and demonstrating a strong work ethic early on, I was granted a lot of freedom with future projects and tasks that ultimately helped me to grow within the position.
