About Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM)

Environmental protection in Indiana has come a long way since 1986, when the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) was established. Since then, IDEM has grown to a staff of 900, and employs some of Indiana's most qualified engineers, scientists and environmental project managers specializing in air, land, pollution prevention and water quality issues. Our staff members work hard to provide quality environmental oversight and technical assistance in your community and around the state. Whether you're a business owner, consultant, student, farmer, teacher or parent, IDEM is here to help you.

Recycling, Education, and Quality Assurance Intern

June 2019 - August 2019 Indianapolis, IN
“I met a lot of people who are really trying to be influential in the field. I felt like a lot of the employees in IDEM were actually in the field because they cared about the work that they were doing and were not just there for a job. I also highly valued the guidance and respect they provided me. I never felt like I was treated as the intern, but just as another employee. I was entrusted to independently take on important projects and given the opportunity to go and work in the field alongside other employees. They were also incredibly supportive and willing to connect me with people in and out of the department for career advancement and networking opportunities. ”
