The best part of my internship experience was being exposed to the day to day operations of the agency as I now know what I would like to do for a career and what I wouldn't. Volunteering for ICE during the summer also showed me the skill set I need to equip before working within the field.
What I wish was different
I wish that the internship would have been more hands on in terms of working out in the field with officers.
Advice
I would encourage student volunteers to stay in touch with those met during the internship.
