Working in ILAP's two-person Lewiston office gave me a ton of hands-on experience. I was able to sit-in on client meetings even when I wasn't there as a French interpreter. Alice was incredibly patient and passionate when teaching me the different legal processes surrounding various immigration matters. It was really a great atmosphere and an incredible experience!
What I wish was different
I personally should have gone down to the main office in Portland more often. It helps interns get a better sense of the organization as a whole, and the people there are really phenomenal. If you have the opportunity to, take it!
Advice
I would ask as many questions as possible. There's so much to learn, and this is the exact environment where your opinion is valued and encouraged to be shared, so speak up!
