Imerman Angels

Administrative Assistant

September - November 2017 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

The atmosphere within this organization is incredible, the people you work with all have amazing stories and help you grow into a compassionate and empowered employee.

What I wish was different

Sometimes I was a little unclear what my role was, but an advantage of this was I really saw all aspects of the organization and got to float around and do projects with different people.

Advice

If you cannot be independent/ take charge this IS NOT THE INTERNSHIP FOR YOU. You need to be able to take an inch and run with it, go above and beyond, and do it on your own. If you want step by step instructions or constant reassurance and praise, look else where.

What I liked

I loved the office environment I was in every single day. Each member of the IA team was warm and welcoming; even though we were dealing with a hard to talk about subject (cancer), we knew it was our job to help those who needed us.

What I wish was different

I honesty do not wish that anything had been different; I still work here now!

Advice

Go in with an open mind and the ability to be flexible. You may apply for a certain position but the company finds you are a better fit somewhere else within them. That's what happened to me, and it worked out great!
