I got to learn so much about the law and the environment. I got to try new things and interact with the community.
What I wish was different
I wish it was paid and I got to intern longer.
Advice
Shoot for the stars. It was a lengthy process to become an intern with the illinois department of natural resources but I stuck it out and got what I wanted.

Conservation Worker
May - August 2019 • Vienna, IL
What I liked
My job was in my career field and helped me bridge a relationship with a Conservation Police Officer due to an investigation I helped conduct. This led me to having a person connection with CPO Johnson and allowing me to be able to inquire about his job duties. It also allowed me to be able to have future possibilities doing work with him.
What I wish was different
Nothing
Advice
Please don’t apply for this job if you are work brittle. The job is hands on and you will be working rain, shine, sleet, or snow. There is a lot of freedom at this job so you must be ethical and understand that you are a public servant. The job is not good for people who have poor communication skills. Interacting with the public is 50% of the job on a day-to-day experience.
