ID TECH

Instructor

May - July 2023 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

Working at iDTech was so much fun! The training was very professional, fun, and informative. All of my coworkers were really friendly and professional. I worked primarily with kids ages 7-9 teaching them how to create adventure maps in Minecraft, or Obby courses in Roblox. Watching their faces light up with smiles when they accomplished something made my day. #BestJobEver!

Advice

Be flexible with your lesson plans. Students have a wide variety of skill levels, and some content may need to be simplified for one student, and made more challenging for another. Especially when working with younger kids, keep in mind that they may not always follow lesson plans in the way you initially intended, and you will likely have to readjust throughout the day.

What I liked

Staff was great! The company always looked out for their employees and was very reasonable.

What I wish was different

My only complaint about teaching for them was that they put multiple classes into the same room, which could make it difficult to teach at some points.

Advice

Be prepared to go home and solve problems that your students run into during instructional time.

Instructor

What I liked

I enjoyed teaching kids how to 3D print and also how to make VR games in Unity

What I wish was different

I wish the kids were more willing to learn harder concepts in the 3D modeling software

Advice

Be patient with kids you’re trying to teach and find ways to make them enjoy the lesson plan rather than them thinking it’s a lecture

Instructor

June - August 2018 • Towson, MD

What I liked

Great experience and gives you a chance to put what you're learning into practice

What I wish was different

Very long hours, only 1 day off a week. Little work/life separation, lots of extra work to be done during home hours. Pay could have been better or more accurately reflected hours worked. A work week was about 55 hours plus work at home, only paid for 40

Advice

Worth all the hard work, just know you're in for a very long day and not the best pay. Overall a very rewarding experience though
