I love working on the industrial team. I have done commercial MEP work before and it was a smooth transition with my previous knowledge of CAD and Revit. This team allows me to expand my knowledge of electrical systems with many different applications such as LNG turbine Plants, Solar and battery storage Plants, and Substation integration design. I was not held back as a new employee and was allowed to have lots of interactions with contractors and final decisions for the projects I worked on.
What I wish was different
I wish the university had better explained the process of the FE to PE and its importance in the consulting industry.
Advice
Give the Industrial and medium voltage side of this industry some thought. I personally was not looking for this position but I find myself consistently learning and engaged though the projects I have worked on and like it much more than any regular MEP work.
