Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Manchester, NH

What I liked

Amazing hand's on experience - got to use actual money to make a difference in the business and saw the results.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a bigger marketing department to learn from, there was only a few people.

Advice

Network with everyone! The building I worked with had the corporate office for Hubbell as well as the small subsidiary I worked at, so I met great people!

Industrial Engineering Intern

January - August 2018 • Newtown, CT

What I liked

It was rewarding to see that I added value to the company by proposing improvements for catalog designs, work flow, and ergonomics on the production floor. I enjoyed working with a wide array of people from the floor operators all the way up to the Management Team and the Plant Manager. I liked how this program gave me engineering experience but it also gave me a taste of Operations Management.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't change one thing about my role/responsibilities. I enjoyed what I did very much. I just wish there was a little bit more structure to the program. I did find that there was a decent amount of down time where I did not have much to do.

Advice

My advice would be that it is okay to make mistakes because I found that I learned more on the job when I failed. There was one project that I proposed a different type of work flow for and my manager told me to follow through with it even though he knew it would fail when I shared the idea with him. He knew this would help me learn and I appreciate him doing that for me.

Marketing Intern

February 2017 • Avon, CT

What I liked

The Hubbell family genuinely cares about each and every one of its employees, from the top executives down to college interns. I worked at the iDevices smart-home branch of Hubbell, Inc. and the group of people that I worked with knew me on a personal level by the time I ended my summer internship there. The group of people genuinely care about who you are and want to see you grow as a businessman and will stop short of nothing to help me in my career path.

What I wish was different

Nothing, extremely positive experience that was very enriching to everyone who worked under Dave Nord at Hubbell, Inc.

Advice

Meet and make relationships with everyone that you can because those will take you further than you can imagine. Talking to people and seeing where they come from opens up doors to fields you didn't even know existed.
