HP Inc.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - August 2021 • Vancouver, WA

What I liked

Managers were hands-on and supportive, in-office work, projects felt useful but were not mission-critical

What I wish was different

A little better documentation, sometimes a lot of time was spent waiting on someone to give you CAD files they had to dig up, or find the right spec sheet/etc.

Advice

Ask lots of questions and learn who everyone is so that you know who to ask in the first place!

What I liked

The people I worked with were not only extremely knowledgeable, but also very understanding of my lack of experience. So much hands on, real world experience - can’t replace that.

What I wish was different

Nothing! Everything I did was out of my comfort zone and made the experience that much better and more rewarding.

Advice

Companies are not only looking for technical expertise, they’re also looking for strong communication, working with a team, and following industry standards and processes.
