Hooke Laboratories, Inc

Autoimmune Disease Lab Internship

August 2019 • Lawrence, MA

What I liked

This job is very versatile and keeps you on your toes. I like the work environment for this reason. It is a mix between face paced and slow paced. I liked learning dissection and animal care. It was also fascinating to see the process of animal anatomy down to cellular level. This experience also allowed me to see how a large laboratory runs from the animals down to shipment. It also allowed me to see how to deal with customer studies. (Contract research).

What I wish was different

Having limited hours, it is difficult to be able to learn everything in order to do more complex tasks that contribute to the company. But, slowly, I was able to contribute to real research studies.

Advice

Not everyone is comfortable with animal dissection. But I would say, take opportunities as they come, even if you don't think you'll like it.
