What I liked

I loved my coworkers.

What I wish was different

I wish they were more clear about the hours that we were going to receive in the beginning. It took a few weeks for them to get the proper schedule running and to give people more hours.

What I liked

It was a good first job and everyone was nice and patient when I had questions.

What I wish was different

I wish that the employers were more aware of my schedule because I said I was able to work on mornings but they also had me work at night.

Advice

Be patient when costumers are angry. If you respond back in the same tone they will get even more upset and you'll have to deal with them even more.

Sales Associate

June - August 2019 • Oshkosh, WI

What I liked

The hourly wage was fair and getting paid weekly instead of biweekly was nice.

What I wish was different

I wish that management would have communicated with each other more as to what their expectations were because they seemed to differ and would change on a daily basis. There was also a lack of organization with staffing and who would be doing what and you would constantly get pulled to do something else when you were told to do one thing. We were often over staffed.

Cashier

May 2017 - August 2019 • Paramus, NJ

What I liked

I liked how everyone worked together like a family. They offered a lot of hours and spent a lot of time training me before putting me on register to make sure I was comfortable. Management was very open to questions and always being hands on to help any and everyone.

What I wish was different

I wish the management stuck to the policies of the company when encountering a customer with a problem. Most of the time new rules would be made up on the spot to please each customer, it was difficult to keep up with this as an employee.

Advice

Working in retail was a great first job experience, and can teach you a lot about customer service, team work, and problem solving. While also being able to work on your communication skills, and time management while working under pressure.
