During my internship, I got to know and understand the amazing culture within the company. All of my coworkers were extremely intentional in helping me to better understand insurance, the company, and the role of a brokerage. Also, Holmes Murphy does a great job with holding social events for the employees to get to know each other better and outside of the work environment.
What I wish was different
Unfortunately, the majority of my internship was remote due to a delay in remodeling the Dallas office. However, I was able to go into the office during the last week, which was great to experience!
Advice
I would say to not discount applying/taking the opportunity to work at Holmes Murphy just because you aren't sure you want to work in insurance. Regardless, it is an amazing experience with great people at a company that has seen tremendous success over the past 90 years. I never thought I would work in insurance, but I ended up loving what I learned and considering a career in the field.

Great company culture, big emphasis on learning, and a fantastic environment & atmosphere.
What I wish was different
Nothing!
Advice
Try to break out of your comfort zone. It is a judgement-free workplace if you do mess up, but everyone that works there is 100% willing to help anyone if you ask. Also, try to learn as much as possible, build your personal network, and actively pursue stuff to do when you have downtime.

What I liked
I got to learn all about the services that the company provides to its clients. I also got to connect with so many people at all levels of the organization.
What I wish was different
The last two weeks or so had a lot of downtime, especially after we were done presenting our capstone projects.
Advice
Everybody is super friendly and willing to talk to interns, even if they're from completely different departments. Don't waste an opportunity to ask someone questions.

Account Manager Intern (Healthcare)
June 2019 • Dallas, TX
What I liked
I loved the focus on company culture at Holmes Murphy. Every one is so thoughtful, kind, and caring. The employees there are not just present to do work, but to help live out the mission of the company.
What I wish was different
As an intern, things felt a bit relaxed. I would ask if there was anything I could do during my free time, but there wasn't always something. It taught me how to manage my time and work on personal development.
Advice
Network with people outside of your team! Get to know as many employees as possible and ask for them to share some of their most meaningful experiences with you.
