chemistry research
July - September 2020 • Geneva, NY
What I liked
I liked the fact that I had quite a bit of freedom in the lab so I could change what I was doing day to day or start on something new.
What I wish was different
The only thing that I wish was different was that the research could have lasted for longer, but due to COVID-19 that was not possible. Therefore I am very grateful for the experience I was able to have.
Advice
Go into a job like this with an open mind, and know that your patience may be tested because oftentimes experiments do not end up working. Do not get discouraged because being in a research is a very valuable use of your time!

Summer Intern
June - August 2019 • Geneva, NY
What I liked
I liked building a connection with various people throughout the admissions office and other offices throughout campus too. All the people that I built a relationship with were extremely easy to work with and would help with any question that I had. I liked acquiring many skills including talking to people over the phone that had multiple questions about HWS, and I also liked being accustomed to the professional lifestyle as the admissions office gave me a good taste of it.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had taken more time to learn how to give tours. Although I probably could have, I was too engulfed in the idea of it being a scary task when in reality it really was not. Ultimately I wish I had put myself out there more to gain an experience to its fullest magnitude.
Advice
Again, just allowing yourself to fill as many roles as possible as it attributes to building character and comfort towards speaking to others, talking in-front of others and ultimately being able to move others for the HWS admissions office and for yourself in the future.
