At the Clay County Historical Society, we bring local history to life. Based at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, Minnesota, CCHS collects, preserves, and shares the stories and cultures that have shaped Clay County. We also interpret two of the region’s most remarkable landmarks: the Hjemkomst, a full-size Viking ship replica that sailed from Minnesota to Norway in 1982, and the Hopperstad Stave Church replica. Through exhibitions, programs, research, and hands-on learning experiences, our year-round museum connects visitors with the people, places, and stories of our region.
