What I liked

The company was very supportive of me and allowed me to work flexibly in my schedule. I was given many opportunities to work on very impactful projects.

What I wish was different

I wish pay had been higher and that I had been exposed to a couple other quality issues.

Advice

Find projects you are passionate about and ask to work on them.

Test Engineer

What I liked

I liked how I was able to take projects cradle to grave. I was able to design test fixtures, work with machine shops to have them quoted and made, wrote the requisitions, preformed the tests, and finally wrote the stp's so others can perform the tests as well. Just a super cool experience to take a project form start to finish.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have done more design projects because they are fun and enjoyable.

Advice

Co-op's and internships are so important for developing yourself as a professional and gaining connections in the industry. I have gained so many friends and made great connections with my time at Hendrickson then I will be able to call any of these people and they will always be willing to help me out.

What I liked

The work schedule was flexible 40 hrs. It was flex time (i.e. made my own hours).

What I wish was different

I wish i would've gotten to work with floor workers a little more.

Advice

Be open to different industries, even if you don't know much about a certain industry.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

What I liked

There was opportunities for hands-on experiences. I was able to learn a lot of new skills that can't be taught in a classroom and only by real-world experience.

What I wish was different

Towards the end of the internship, they ran out of work for the interns. However, we were given a lot of work in the begging so if it had been spaced out more it would have worked out perfectly.

Advice

It was great and a good way to find out if you are going to enjoy what you are going to be majoring in. Also, it exposes you to a work environment and allows you to learn how to communicate and interact with other employees.
