Jody Friedman is an award winning songwriter, music supervisor and music producer.
Syncing music to film has been a lifelong passion going back to his formative years spent in Clearwater, Florida creating music videos for the high school’s news program. After attending Florida State University and majoring in Communications & Media Production, he spent 7 years working for CNN in Atlanta, NYC & California. During this time, he wrote a theme song for the show “Nancy Grace” which was his foray into the world of Music Publishing.
Jody’s in depth knowledge of music publishing & copyright allowed him to build HD Music Now from the ground up. For over a decade they have been regularly licensing music and sound design to the likes of ABC, NBC, Showtime, HBO, CW, Sony, Universal, Disney, Warner Brothers, Bunim-Murray, MTV, and more.
Some of his music supervision & clearance projects include projects such as “Won’t You Be My Neighbor" (Focus Features), “Ingress: The Animation” (Netflix), “They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead” (Netflix), “Snowfall (FX - Pilot)”, Fear, Inc (Lone Suspect), “The Music Of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble (HBO + The Orchard) & more. He is a proud member of the Guild of Music Supervisors.
Jody also writes & produces for trailers & ads. In 2017, A song he wrote & produced called, "Pure As Snow (Mike Raznick Remix)" was used for the trailer campaign for Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale" Season One. His songs have been heard in Ray Donovan (Showtime), Victorious (Nickelodeon), Outcast (Cinemax) & more.
A songwriter & recording artist in his own right, he travels regularly to Nashville to write & record. He has co-written songs with such talented songwriters as Jason Matthews (Luke Bryan, Trace Adkins), Kris Bergsnes (Tyler Farr, Tim McGraw), Marty Dodson (Big & Rich, Blake Shelton), Rebecca Lynn Howard (Martina McBride) and many more.
