While apart of Hatch I was able to be a part of a multitude of activities. I worked with the construction management group where I worked closely with other engineers. I was excited to be able to go out into the field to conduct work but also to see the projects I was getting to work on. I was in charge of mapping out shared work between two companies, managing costs of projects, putting together books of all calculations and costs during a project, and even was put in charge of tracking catch basins and ADA ramps. I enjoyed how much I was able to be a part of the team, and everyone was so willing to help me learn and get me involved. I really enjoyed the environment of the company and the various resources that are at arm's reach. I really enjoyed my time at Hatch!
What I wish was different
The only thing I wish was a different was the length of my time there. I really enjoyed my time there, but it took me a bit of time to go through trainings and get accustomed to the office that I want more time with hands on work. I have learned so much in the few months I have been here, and I want to learn more. This was a great experience, and I couldn't really ask for much more.
Advice
One piece of advice that I would share is don't be afraid to use the resources given to you. When you ask questions, you end up learning more than when you don't. I also found it important to go to activities around the office because it's a great way to meet people and form connections with people in different areas. Lastly, I think it is very important to be yourself and let your personality show.
