Harbor Child Care began in 1973 by our founder Jill Rooney as a day care center with eight children in a home in Sea Cliff. Recognizing the strong need for safe and reliable child care for numerous families throughout Long Island that one home grew to six centers across Nassau County. We are now one of the largest non-profit organizations dedicated to full day child care, early childhood and school age education on Long Island. We have grown from our original eight children to over 1,000 children served in our programs across all six centers.
Our most recent center in Glen Cove opened in 2015, with the merging of our original Sea Cliff center and our Glen Head center. We have expanded our scope beyond early childhood education to include school age education through our before and after school programming.
We currently Creative Curriculum across our centers, which is regarded as a leading early childhood educational approach, and in alignment with New York Common Core standards.
Our centers are open from 6:45am - 6:00pm five days a week. We provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks to our children, and all of our centers are peanut free.
