I liked the training aspect of different parts of the profession. I enjoyed the team of advisors that I was paired up with. I liked the transition the company made into eMoney and learning the program.

I wish that I had more work to do. I believe it would have been more beneficial if I was able to contribute more to client meetings.

I liked have the ability to manage myself and prioritize some of the work I felt needed to be done. I also enjoyed the CPAs I worked with. They were very helpful and kind.

Advice

I recommend writing notes as often as possible. It helps you get a grasp of a certain process or operation until you do it enough times to have commit to memory.

Advising Intern

May - August 2018 • Ann Arbor, MI

What I liked

I liked working one on one with a financial adviser and getting to see exactly what it is they do on a day to day basis.

What I wish was different

Things were honestly pretty good this summer. If I wanted to learn more about something, nothing stopped me from asking an adviser or tax specialist. There wasn't much to complain about. If you want something, all you have to do is ask and people are more than happy to share their knowledge with you.

Advice

If you haven't worked in the financial services before, don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think they may be "stupid". It's a chance to learn and that's really why you're there- to learn.
