It was a great team environment that focused on production and safety. There was always something to do and new things to learn.
What I wish was different
I only wish that there were aspects to the job that would involve my field of study.
Advice
When you are unsure or don't know something, ask questions. This is exactly why there are mentors assigned to people. Not being able to communicate effectively in a team environment is the fastest way to sink the ship.

Construction Laborer
July 2018 • Portland, OR
What I liked
Working hard, working long hours and using awesome tools to get the job done. I also enjoyed helping do traffic work (opening and closing lanes, setting up message boards, etc.)
What I wish was different
Construction work is sometimes not very detail oriented or precision. It was hard for me to let go and just get things done quickly vs being more thorough.
Advice
If you want to succeed, choose not to be offended by what others say to you. Continue to treat others with respect and have a healthy sense of comradery, no matter how much your co workers make fun, or are rough around the edges. We are all in this together.
