What I liked

Great Lakes PeaceJam has offered me a wide-range of experiences with nonprofit management, youth development, peace education, and service-learning. I have had multiple opportunities to expand my skill-sets by coordinating and training volunteers, organizing social justice/human rights related events, and much more.

Advice

In whatever intern/job/volunteer role that you accept, be sure to allow yourself space and opportunity to grow. Seek out responsibilities, experiences, and connections that will help you develop as not only a professional but also as a compassionate human. If a task or responsibility seems daunting yet also motivating, do not be afraid to take it. Do your best at that task, and reflect later on whether there is room for growth. It's not about doing everything perfect.
