The thing that stood out most to me was just how warm and friendly the people at Graybar treated me. Every person, whether it be a board member or a janitor gave me the time of day and treated me as though I had been a colleague of theirs for years. I have heard nothing but great things about the people who work here, and I truly believe that Graybar is a special place where anyone can find a home.
What I wish was different
My internship was a bit different to the rest of my class. I got to come into the office during COVID which was great. The Treasury Department took me under their wing and let me learn as much as I could and the HR Department did a terrific job in turbulent circumstances with the Internship Program.
The only thing I wish was different was that I would have liked to meet my internship class in person!
Advice
Don't stress too much about your experience. You were hired for a reason, because Graybar saw something special in you. Don't forget that.

Finance Intern
June - July 2021 • St. Louis, MO
What I liked
The culture at Graybar is very friendly and welcoming. Everyone is always willing to help you out and work with you to succeed. I enjoyed being able to learn from all different departments throughout the company. I feel as if this gave me a more holistic view of Graybar.
What I wish was different
One thing I wish had been different is that I wish I could have come into the office more to learn from the finance department. However, with the pandemic going on, I was satisfied with the amount of time I got to spend in the office.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share is to work hard and never turn down an opportunity to excel. A willingness to relocate is very beneficial as well.

Marketing and Sales Intern
May - August 2018 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
Gave me real life applications of what I was learning in school along with lots of hands on experiences. I went on sales calls and job sights, and was given an intern project. I had great networking opportunities such as a business trip to St. Louis where I met the CEO of this Fortune 500 company.
What I wish was different
I was always asking for more to do! That may have just been my personal work ethic but I always wanted more tasks.
Advice
Be willing to relocate.

Recieving department of warehouse
June 2017 • Brooklyn Park, MN
What I liked
Good wage, always had something to do.
What I wish was different
I had gotten my forklift license earlier in the summer so I could've worked longer hours and made more money all summer and not just in August.
Advice
It gets easier with time but make sure to rest on the weekends & nights after work since it's such a physical job.
