Granite Associates, L.P. was formed in 1996 to act as investment advisor to Alan Gerry, Chairman and Founder of Cablevision Industries (CVI). Mr. Gerry started CVI’s first cable operation in 1956 and grew the company over a period of 40 years. In 1996, Mr. Gerry directed the merger of CVI with Time Warner Inc. At the time of the merger, CVI was the largest independent cable television business in the United States and the eighth largest U.S. cable operator overall. It had over 1.3 million subscribers in 18 states and more than 2,500 employees in 64 systems.
Granite has evolved to become a multi-faceted asset management firm with approximately $1.2 billion in assets under management, investing in a diversified portfolio of assets.
