Grain Millers, Inc.

Summer Field Representative

May - August 2020 • Eden Prairie, MN

What I liked

I enjoyed getting to know a wide array of growers of different commodities throughout the Midwest, as well as a lot of different Agricultural professionals that crossed paths with. I enjoyed getting to travel and plan my own week, as well as covering topics related to business, as well as agronomy.

What I wish was different

I would have enjoyed getting to work more overtime, but other than that there were no complaints!

Advice

Don't be afraid to get an internship away from home, or one that involves a lot of travel. It is a unique experience, and something that is easy to do when you are young and don't have ties at home.

Summer Field Representive

May - August 2019 • Eden Prairie, MN

What I liked

I loved the traveling and the high expectations I was given. It challenged me to push myself, and always strive to do better. I felt trusted, as well as independent, which was awesome. I was able to meet a lot of new people, from all over parts of the country. I learned a lot of things that pushed me to learn more in the classroom so I can be more "impressive" to employers

What I wish was different

My computer was really slow! That's the first thing that stands out. I also wish that I could have spent a little more time shadowing people in the company that do similar work, just so I could get a feel for what life like them would be like if I was them!

Advice

Go out of your comfort zone. Take a internship that will challenge you, and maybe be uncomfortable. Don't just take the one that is close to home, or pays the most. Do one that makes you learn and push yourself!
