Goodby Silverstein & Partners

Account Management Intern

June - August 2016 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Loved working at a medium-sized creative agency because I felt that we were unified under the agency culture and brand even though we were all working on different clients. Also really enjoyed the culture of the agency – everyone is creative, smart, and extremely passionate about advertising and brand management. Great office and felt like a part of the company from day 1.

What I wish was different

Advice

Getting into the advertising agency world as an intern can be difficult, especially navigating the agency landscape as there are many out there that specialize in different parts of the process. My biggest advice for current students who are interested in entering the agency world is to look for alum who are currently in the agency business and reach out to them. Additionally, read as much AdAge and AdWeek as you can, and go through their agency lists to get a better sense of what agencies are out there and what they specialize in. Be sure to start an informal creative portfolio, even if you are interested in roles in account management & strategy, because a huge part of the application process for agency roles is assessing your creativity.
