It was in a new city and I got the chance to learn about a new industry and it's relevant verticals.
What I wish was different
The recruiting team should have been clearer with the COVID Policy and whether it would be in-person or all virtual from the get-go rather than closer to the start date.
Advice
Take risks, move to another city for a semester/summer and uncover new experiences.

What I liked
Great atmosphere. Accessibility at all levels. Treated employees very well, and had an excellent culture. Everyone was so willing to help and answer questions. They were super flexible with COVID 19 and did not cancel the internship.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have been in the office. Due to COVID-19 the internship was held online.
Advice
Ask as many questions as you can. You can learn so much from just being curious.

What I liked
I liked the face time with senior leadership. Everyone is always willing to make time for you, even as an intern. The work I was doing was meaningful and helped my overall professional development. This is not a data entry or very base level job. You need critical thinking and problem solving skills, which makes the job so much more interesting day to day. The company is still growing and it is exciting to be in an environment where everyone is motivated and adaptive. The office is in one of the world trade center buildings and it is a beautiful place to go to work.

If you get the opportunity to spend your summer with GA, take it!

Actuarial Intern

What I liked
I loved being in Des Moines, and getting to experience "a day in the life" for a few months. Before the internship, being an actuary was just an image in my head, and it was awesome to get a taste of what my future will be like.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have a gotten to see the actuarial career on a wider scale. It's a broad field, and just got to see the tip of the iceberg on the team I was on.
Advice
I would advise a future intern to take advantage of the ability to network while there, go out on as many as coffee dates as you can. You gain worthwhile knowledge and get to grow your professional network simultaneously.
