I enjoyed being so involved in the company's functioning! I was given a lot of responsibility in writing Letters of Intent for grants, updating policies for inpatient group homes, and organizing resources and creating promotional material for the Mental Health Resource Center, one of Gilead's major projects currently.
What I wish was different
I would have liked a little more direction and guidance from the CEO and CFO, who I worked with directly; they were often too busy with their own work to check in regularly. However, I also learned to work independently and use the resources I had, which is an important skill.
Advice
The work that Gilead does has a serious impact on the Middletown community's access to mental health resources and you will have the chance to be involved in this project! Get ready to work independently and become comfortable asking questions and sharing your findings.

What I liked
This was a great experience where I was able to work closely with the other interns and Gilead Staff members. I gained a better understanding and appreciation for the work that goes on in non-profits— especially behind the scenes.
