Georgia Lottery Corporation

Sales and Marketing

May 2016 - August 2017 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I loved the entire experience! Everyone at GA Lottery treated the interns like family. Great working environment to say the least. Any time we needed help, they would always be there. We also worked on some really fun campaigns. During the internship, we visited a few off-site campuses to learn more about the job behind the scenes. Overall, I had a lot of successful take aways.

What I wish was different

I wish I were able to switch departments when GA Lottery offered to rehire me. I was eager to learn from another department, like graphic design.

Advice

Go into work with an open mind and be ready to learn, always!

Data Analyst Intern

May - November 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Working at the Lottery is a unique experience. The company itself is a fascinating place and every aspect of its operation is interesting to learn about. The roles and responsibilities for each intern are pretty clearly delineated but there's ample opportunity to learn and grow outside your specific department. At the end of the 10-week program there is a deliverable intern project which is an excellent experience and opportunity to develop your professional skills. All of the people that work at the Lottery across all departments are warm and open to help guide any interns.

What I wish was different

The intern compensation could definitely have been more competitive, especially considering the benefits they have provided in the past.

Advice

Interning with the Lottery was an opportunity to learn so much more than just your departmental responsibilities. Try to gain some experience across departments so you can get a better idea of Lottery operations, trends about the company and the lottery industry to keep in mind, and what it'd be like to work at the GLC full time.
