I enjoyed the employees that were there, every one of them we're respectful and kind to me throughout my time there.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have been able to do a ride along with one of the officers.
Advice
I would say this department is a great opportunity for people to learn about what it means to help someone in need.

DCS intern
May - July 2022 • Statesboro, GA
What I liked
I really enjoyed my experience with the Statesboro office. I enjoyed going to court and watching how the officers would interact with the individuals that were sentenced to probation. I also enjoyed learning how the paperwork was done such as writing a petition or a subpoena list was formatted. The whole experience was amazing. I am glad I was able to intern for this department.
What I wish was different
The one thing that I wish was different was being able to go out in the field more. It was really interesting going out with the officers and seeing how the field worked. I really wish I had another opportunity to ride with the specialized officers.
Advice
One piece of advice would be to ask as many questions as you can think of and volunteer to do things such as petitions, subpoenas, etc. Learn as much information as you can while interning with the department.

Federal Probation/Parole Officer
May - July 2019 • Warner Robins, GA
What I liked
During my internship with DCS- Warner Robins, everything was hands-on. I got to physically learn their web portal, how to make a proper arrest, administer drug tests to offenders, and I was able to learn the importance of being a probation/parole officer.
What I wish was different
My internship experience was thorough and professional. DCS- Warner Robins exceeded my internship expectations.
Advice
Advice I’d give to future internship applicants is to take it serious. Although you’re not an officer yet, you have to hold yourself to their professional standards.
