GEODIS

Transportation Management Intern

May - July 2022 • Brentwood, TN

What I liked

- good pay - great team-oriented work environment/coworkers - great perks (free tickets to Nashville Soccer Club Games) - lots of hands on experience

What I wish was different

- more remote work than i hoped for - some intern development activities were a bit underdeveloped

Advice

- If you want to work in TM this is a great internship experience - company is growing a lot and looking to develop and retain young professionals - research company values/mission before interviewing - they're very important to employees there

Operations Excellence Intern

May - August 2019 • Brentwood, TN

What I liked

Analyzed 20 customers' transportation metrics and produced nationwide network models and freight consolidation studies. I really enjoyed the team and learned how to summarize large amounts of data.

What I wish was different

Nothing! It was the perfect place for me.

Advice

Be open to growing in every aspect of your life, especially understanding how to tell a story around data studies.

Carrier Development Intern

May - July 2019 • Parsons, TN

What I liked

I liked how much I was able to learn in the amount of time I was there. I liked having hands-on experience both at the Corporate Office in Brentwood and a warehouse facility in LaVergne. It was neat to see how all of the work we did benefitted multiple aspects of GEODIS daily.

What I wish was different

I wish I had spent more time with them over the summer. Other than that, I loved every minute of it!

Advice

Don’t go into this experience with the expectation that you’ll just sit around all day. They keep you busy!

Reverse Logistics Project Intern

June 2018 • Endicott, NY

What I liked

The freedom to work at my own pace and the workshop style of the work-space

What I wish was different

Wish more interns were part of the project. Solo work is liberating but can get boring quite fast.

Advice

Know the software and dress accordingly for the hardware aspects. Think outside the box as well. Manager only gave me an idea of the finished product. Details were very much up to me pending further design instruction.
